A Day So Long Ago
There was a day so long ago

When people lived off the land

Horses ran on the Plains

Life was hard when the Seasons changed

Hunting for food before Winter set in

Wild animals and Indians

Were not your friends

What was it like sleeping on the ground

Wolves howling shrilly

In the middle of the night

Struggling this way just to live

Must have been a terrible fright

Snuggling down in the covers tonight

Makes me realize our Forefathers

And all of their plights

I am thankful for where I sleep tonight

Here at home upon my sheets of white
