Fourth Of July 2004
July 2nd. 2004.

No words for my fourth of July poem yet.

I've tried and tried for days on end.

All I've done is get so upset.

It's all about our freedom,

this thing called Independence Day.

Think of all the people who

have lived and died for us.

So very much is there to say.

Times are tough in the world today.

We maintain our dignity and pride.

We are strong and confident,

our flag symbolizes all we hold inside.

Lets sit back this Independence Day

with our children at our side.

Lets have some hot dogs and burgers too,

and invite friends and family from far and wide.

When nightfall settles in

lets go to the fireworks.

We'll act like kids as best we can

and get those childhood perks.

We'll ohhhhhhhhh and ahhhhhhhhh,

and giggle and grin,

drink pop and eat tater chips.

We'll eat candy and popcorn,

and lick the salt right off our lips.

Then when the grand finale marks the end

we'll carry the kids home to bed,

knowing how wonderful our country is,

as our flag waves over our heads!
