Halloween came but once a year.
You always heard us three kids cheer.
It was our favorite time of year,
we made our plans very clear.
Our costumes came from household things.
Bracelets, necklaces, pins, and rings.
Old sheets and fabrics,
cardboard made the neatest wings.
Gathering up everything just made us sing.
Then there came that goulish night.
The one we waited for with all our might.
All dressed up, candy in our sight,
out the door we ran on Halloween night.
Witches, skeletons, and black cats too.
Pumpkins, mummies, and ghosts that said boo.
Peter Pan, the Fairy Princess,
and Cinderella dressed in blue.
So many things out there,
we didn't know who was who.
Up to the doors screaming trick or treat,
but we never said smell my feet.
Off to the next door
even though we were beat.
We had to gather those special treats.
3 Musketeers, Necco Wafers,
and M and M's too.
Popcorn balls, and Cracker Jacks,
and lots of bubble gum for us to chew.
Licorice, candy corn, and Sweet tarts of blue.
We ate so much candy
we didn't know what to do.
Door to door, trick or treat.
Three hours later we were dead on our feet.
We ran off to home with bellyaches,
and in much need of sleep.
Then off to dreamland,
and visions of next years treats!
