He swept her off her feet that night,
falling instantly in love.
His mind raced back so far in time,
to when he was so young.
He kissed her lips and danced so close,
and took her home at dawn.
They shared their life,
their love that night,
at the St. Valentines day ball.
Returning to her the next night,
much to his surprise.
He found the house sitting empty,
and his Valenties love was gone.
He collapsed there on the step,
his head buried in his hands.
His heart fell out right on the ground,
and he saw its very death.
For forty years on Valentines Day,
sits an old and lonely man.
He sits on the steps
of the old crumbled house,
holding a special Valentine
For his beautiful and precious love!
