Food Coloring in water That filled a vase Grandpa ran to the field To pick Queen Anne's Lace
What color would they turn Pink, yellow, sky blue In just a little while they'd turn Such a magnificent hue
The flowers turned What ever color you put in That was my Grandpa though But he so happily grinned
Why couldn't I see it The beauty and love therein The flowers stuck in water With food coloring dropped in
Now I sit in the Autumn of life Seeing things in a different light Grandpas grin tending flowers of lace Burns in my mind so vivid and bright
You know where I'm heading At the first sight of bloom To get some Queen Anne's Lace For my own living room
