Now children, please listen! When you come back to school on Monday, please bring a picture of a heart. It can be one you found in a magazine, or one off of a greeting card, or out of one of your coloring books. When you are looking for the heart, pick one you really like, one that appeals to you. Use your imagination in finding your heart. When you come back on Monday, I want you to tell me why you picked the heart you picked. This will be our show and tell project for Monday. Have a great and fun weekend, and see you next week!
On Monday, Mrs. Green started show and tell by asking little Bobby why he had picked the heart he did. I picked this heart Bobby said, because it came from a valentine my mommy got from daddy, and it was special to her. I asked her if I could bring it and she said yes. It means that daddy loves mommy!
Then Mrs. Green asked Becky to show the heart she brought. I brought this pink heart from my moms magazine. It has flowers all around it, and it means that Spring spreads loving sunshine to all the beautiful flowers to make them grow!
Mrs. Green moved on to Shelly and asked her to explain the heart she had found. I picked this golden heart from some stickers that my mother has. She puts them on envelopes when she writes letters to people. it means she sends love to them from us.
Mrs. Green had finally asked all the children except for Jack to show the hearts they had brought. Now Jack, can you please show us the heart that you brought. The heart I brought Jack said, lives in my chest. You cannot see it there. Not all hearts can be seen. My heart feels things. Sometimes, My heart makes me sing. It makes me happy, it makes me excited, it makes me hurry to the table when my momma says supper is ready, and I kiss her and tell her thank you right from my heart. Sometimes, but not all the time, my heart makes tears roll down my cheeks when I am sad. Like when my grandpa died, and when my dog Scruffy ran away. So you see, I brought my heart that lives in my chest!
Thank you all very much children! I think we have all learned some very valuable things about hearts here today. Mrs. Green crossed her arms over and had a very big grin on her face. The children had taught themselves some very meaningful lessons on this day! Someone does not need a teacher to learn matters of the heart. We learn love just by the every day matters of life! |
