The Letter
Austin was just home from work. Another long day under his belt. The good thing about it though was that it was Friday. He was on his own time for a couple days now. He needed it!

He unlocked the door as he grabbed the mail out of the box. First thing he did inside was take his tie off. He took a long deep breath, it sure felt good to be home. He went into the kitchen and grabbed a beer from the fridge. it was good and cold going down!

He walked over to the coffee table and picked up the mail stack and started going through it. One envelope caught his eye. Miss Lindsay Morrison, I wonder who that is? Checking the address on it, he saw that it was in building C, which was right across the street from him. Same numbers, but different building. Well, soon as I shower and change I will run it over there on my way out for supper.

He stood in front of the door and rang the bell. He could hear music playing. I will ring one more time, then stick it in the box. I'm starving, got to have something to eat. The door opened. His eyes must have widened a mile. He did a double take. There stood the prettiest girl he had ever seen, she took his breath away.

Neither one said anything, they simply stared at each other. Oh he said, It's this letter. It was left in my box by mistake. I think it must be for you. She looked at the letter. Well yes, yes it is for me. It seemed time had frozen for a few moments. The two looked so stunned and surprised. My goodness, do come in she said. I am sorry. Won't you come in for some tea? I was just making myself some.

Lindsay opened the door. Austin stepped inside. I have seen you before she said, outside I mean. Coming and going, I have seen you I mean. Yes, and my name is Austin he replied. I do believe I have seen you a time or two outside as well.

This is green tea she told him, I do hope you like it as she poured the two cups. I do he said, I always have loved tea also. I always have a cup before dinner she said. Oh my Lindsay, i sure don't mean to interrupt he said. I wanted to bring the letter over and drop it off. I am on my way out for supper myself. Thats quite all right Lindsay told him. Please don't hurry off. It seems really nice to have some company. Won't you come with me to supper then he said. I am going to an Italian restaurant that I know of not too far away. I will share tea with you, if you will share a meal with me. Well, I wasn't planning on going out, but  yes. Yes I will go with you. It sounds like fun to me. The two finished the tea and went on their way.

At the restaurant, they started with wine. they sat and talked for so long. Austin could not believe that he was having fun for the first time in a very long time. When Susan had left him and married Mark, he had never felt the same again.

The two of them ordered their meals. They ate and hardly noticed they were so caught up in one another, both thought  that it must be a mistake. They fit right together. They loved the same things, food, music, movies, all kinds of things. After they ate, they had coffee and dessert. They shared more and more of their lives with each other, there in deep and tender conversation.

When they arrived back at Lindsays door step, they both commented what a surprisingly, wonderful evening it had been. I can't beleive I met you this way Lindsay. Thank you so much for this beautiful evening Austin told her. I do hope that I might have the honor of seeing you again, again very soon! Lindsay was so quiet. Austin told her good night. He turned and slowly started walking away. Austin! Austin, please come back. Please come back, please come inside with me. They looked deeply into each others eyes. He touched her cheek, she smiled so sweetly. They both knew at that moment that they needed each other, and they needed to be together that night. Being alone and lonesome had consumed them for far, far to long!

As the door shut behind them, they both knew instantly. You never ever know from one moment to the next, when love will walk right up to your door, slap you on the face, and sweep you right off your feet, and your life will never, ever, be the same again. Love most deffinately works in very mysterious ways!
